Northern Short-tailed Shrew Shrews are fierce little creatures eating 80%-90%of their body weight in food a day. They have sharp spike-like teeth and are considered a small mammal rather than a rodent like mice are. One other interesting thing I read was that they hold nearly 10% of their mass in their brain which is the highest brain to body mass ratio in mammals including humans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrew I came upon this one in the road. After busily scurrying around in circles, it finally made its way up the snow bank. His eyes are so small you can't always see them as is the case here.
