Foxes
This has been a good year for fox, starting with meeting a kindred spirit that allowed me access to her yard to observe a young fox family. It took a lot of time just to acclimate them to my presence and I decided to keep some distance as I watched them. This allowed for some exciting behavior which finally involved the kits nursing on the last day I saw them. The natal den is not a permanent one, and time, as well as accumulation of bones and feathers that alert predators like coyotes will cause the family to move on to another den in the area.
Later on in the season, I have come across more youngsters in my travels. They are a wonderful creature; intelligent, comical, and a joy to behold. All photos were taken in a natural environment without baiting or calling.
