Winter is slipping into spring and though she is a temperamental mistress, she won't be denied. There is already a changing of the guard and these beautiful winter raptors will soon be called back to their breeding grounds. Arriving Red-winged Blackbirds are protesting and I have seen one land on the back of an owl trying to escort it from its newly claimed territory. Songbirds are singing up a storm and the Red-tails have hooked up. I hope we ease into spring so that we can enjoy our flowering trees and spring flowers. One more hunting owl taking a second look in the golden hour.
