This young loon is begging for food. It went in behind the neck each time. The parent is practicing a bit of tough love as the youngster will soon have to rely on its own skills for survival. Parents leave the young before they can fly and after the young loons gain their flight feathers and skills, they too will make their way to the ocean. There, they will have to adapt to salt water and will remain on the ocean for three to four years before they make their way back to their birth lakes.
