Black Skimmers
Black Skimmers are the only American skimmer. They are graceful birds that fly low over the water with their lower mandible dragging the surface of the water. When they touch a fish, the top mandible snaps down to catch it. I watched them for long periods of time at all times of the day, and they did some serious loafing. All was forgiven though when I saw them fly cutting through the water. They were more than a little bit addicting to observe.
